Business Development Assistant

The role of the Business Development Assistant (BDA) is to support the Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) and the Senior Business Development Executive (SBDE) in the execution of marketing plans and campaigns and to help in the identification and creation of opportunities to win new business for the D&R/LDR groups.

Role and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list)
• Support the SBDM and SBDE on developing, reviewing and updating planning and budgeting materials, participating in meetings, amending documents
• Supporting the SBDM and SBDE on the targeting (“pipeline”) process
• Support the development of InterAction, our contact management system (e.g. mailing list cleansing) and being a ‘champion’ within the rest of the firm
• Support the SBDM and SBDE on the pitching process, including statements of experience, client quotes/testimonials, basic research, organising meetings, partner and fee earner biographies and core factual/policy information. Develop and maintain the materials required to create these documents
• Creating brochures, team sheets and other client facing materials, often at short notice
• Produce, distribute, analyse and report on digital newsletters, legal updates and other direct mailings, working with the CRM team
• Coordinating and producing relevant regular reports
• Creating and maintaining internet and intranet content for your sectors/services and fee earner profiles
• Working with the SBDE, co-ordinate the legal directory and award submissions process, liaising with partners and the research teams ensuring that submissions are in the correct format and delivered on time
• With the support of the SBDE and Events team, plan, carry out, analyse and report on a variety of targeted events such as seminars/webinars, workshops, receptions and other client hospitality
• Supporting the SBDM and SBDE and working with fee earners and our PR team on the coordination of PR activity for your sector/service groups
• Developing, populating (rankings, quotes, testimonials, deals etc.), collating and reporting on key information for your sectors/services and ensuring they are stored in the relevant repositories (e.g. PitchPoint) and available quickly and easily for proposals, collateral etc.
• Undertake ad hoc desk research on markets, sectors, industries, organisations and individuals of relevance to specific business development initiatives
• Supporting the SBDM and SBDE to organise any necessary BD/Marketing training for partners/fee earners
• Involvement and support for firm wide marketing driven key project work (e.g. campaigns) and any other key BD deliverables for the senior management team (Director and Heads)

• Responsible, confident, robust, proactive
• A proven track record of delivering/achieving results and targets
• Experience of the professional services environment essential
• Good academic record
• A quick learner who is able to hit the ground running
• A strong team player
• Able to adapt and respond at short notice.

Technical skills
• IT savvy and computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• some knowledge of CRM systems (preferably InterAction)
• some knowledge of marketing databases (preferably InterAction)
• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• excellent attention to detail and highly proficient proof-reading skills
• project management skills
