Karen specialises in the resolution of high value financial claims for spouses and cohabitees, complex issues concerning arrangements for children including the international relocation of children and cases with a public law element. She acts for spouses, parents and other relatives and is also able to assist schools and charities in respect of child law issues. Karen's clients are based both in England and overseas and many of her cases involve international elements.

Karen is a mediator, collaborative lawyer and a member of Resolution, and she is committed to resolving family issues in a constructive and conciliatory manner.

Karen is admitted to practise in England and Wales.

Experience

  • Acting for parents in relation to complex child cases including those with a public law element and including acting for the mother in the reported case of Re K (Children) 2008 before the Court of Appeal
  • Advising on the resolution of matrimonial financial issues including cases involving complex asset structures, high value assets and international elements and including acting for the wife in the reported case of W v W in relation to the capitalisation of spousal maintenance payments
  • Acting for parents on child law cases with an international element such as applications to relocate a child overseas including acting for the mother in the reported case of S v H ( Abduction : Access Rights ) 1997
  • Acting as a mediator and collaborative lawyer in relation to financial issues and the arrangements for children following the breakdown of marriages and relationships
