Ian specialises in private client work, assisting individuals and families in Hong Kong across different generations on a variety of issues ranging from wills and probates to complex trust structures to achieve family governance, succession and estate planning objectives.
Ian also advises extensively on real estate work, including acting for developers, investors, landlords and tenants in commercial, industrial and residential developments. He has experience in all property-related transactions, including advising on acquisitions and dispositions of property (residential, commercial and industrial) in Hong Kong, acting for both listed and private companies in joint developments, acquisitions, sales by way of tender, public auction and private treaty, financing arrangements and leases.
Ian has consistently been recognised as a leading individual for private client matters from 2009 to 2023 by the Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Chambers High Net Worth Guide. He has also been recognised as a leading lawyer for real estate by Chambers Asia Pacific from 2009 to 2020. Ian was also featured in ‘Leaders List’ by Citywealth from 2016 to 2018.
Ian is admitted to practise in Hong Kong and England & Wales. He speaks fluent English and Cantonese.
