Briony is an Associate in the Employment team.

About

Briony provides day-to-day HR support and guidance to a variety of employers across a range of sectors such as fast-food, sport and healthcare. 

She represents both claimants and respondents on litigation in the Employment Tribunal, including claims relating to unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, equal pay and discrimination and has experience lodging appeals in the Employment Appeals Tribunal.  Briony also has experience in Data Subject Access Requests, preparing policies and staff handbooks, drafting contracts of employment and advising in relation to settlement agreements. 

With a background in mathematics and computing, Briony is highly numerate and can quickly grasp complex technical issues, while always remaining commercially minded.  

In addition to her advisory role, Briony writes articles for online and national publications on topical employment law issues.  She regularly delivers employment law training sessions to clients, both in house and by webinar.

Briony is a member of the Association of European Lawyers (AEL) Employment Special Interest Group, connecting her to leading employment lawyers across Europe.

Experience

  • Advising a leading Formula One team on an ongoing basis in respect of day-to-day employee issues and specific projects, including collective redundancy.
  • Achieving favourable settlements in a variety of Employment Tribunal claims, including for sexual harassment, unfair dismissal and disability discrimination, on behalf of a large client in the fast food industry.
  • Successfully negotiating a substantial settlement for an individual in a maternity discrimination case.
