Laurie’s career with the firm as a litigator encompassed working for international companies and governments, dealing with international arbitration and litigation of major commercial contractual disputes, technical and engineering matters, including major claims arising out of carriage of goods and air disaster, and also major maritime border dispute in the Caribbean, involving Arbitration under the rules of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Between 2001 and 2005 he acted as Shadow Counsel for a former non-executive member of the Enron Board of Directors which gave him much experience in the corporate governance issues arising out of Enron’s collapse, due to his heavy involvement in the consolidated litigation which his client was a party.

Laurie now lectures on corporate governance issues and has given talks in London, Mexico, Hong Kong and Nigeria.
