Jon is a Partner specialising in commercial and regulatory advice to clients in the sports, TMT and retail sectors.

In sport, he advises on commercial rights deals, including sponsorship, licensing, media rights and endorsement agreements, as well as giving regulatory advice to organisations in the sector. He acts for governing bodies, brands, agencies and individuals.

Jon also has significant experience in the technology and media sectors. He represents key clients of the firm in those sectors on matters ranging from digital media to advertising, licensing to outsourcing and more.

His clients range from start-ups and SMEs to multi-nationals.

In addition to the sector specific advice highlighted, Jon provides the full range of commercial advice to businesses seeking legal assistance with their business operations and the terms of supply of their goods or services.

Jon is admitted to practise in England and Wales.


  • Advised Nike on its deal with The FA for the sponsorship of the England football team and on its marketing activity during London 2012
  • Advised the Welsh Rugby Union on its agreement with the four professional Regional Rugby teams in Wales in 2014, which restructured professional rugby in Wales for the next six years and established the framework for dual contracts for Welsh players
  • Acting for a major technology company on its infrastructure, distribution and outsourcing arrangements
  • Acting as Head of Legal and Business Affairs at IMG for Rugby World Cup 2015
