Paula specialises in construction, projects and engineering law. She has been based permanently in Bahrain since February 2009.
Paula acts on behalf of government and regulatory clients, project employers and developers, lenders and investors, contractors, subcontractors and consultants. She is experienced in drafting all forms of construction and engineering contracts including FIDIC, NEC and JCT.
She also advises clients on contentious matters and disputes including use of ADR strategy, mediation, early settlement, localised and international litigation proceedings and arbitration. Paula is a registered mediator with the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution.
She has significant experience advising on a diverse range of projects in Bahrain and the wider Middle East region. Projects include real estate and development, regeneration, infrastructure and utilities, leisure, residential, industrial and commercial, education and healthcare, both in the private and public sectors.
Paula’s project experience includes the Bahrain National Assembly, Durrat Al Bahrain, Bahrain Bay, Riffa Views, Diyar Al Muharraq, Bahrain Airport, Villamar, King Abdullah Medical City, Dilmunia, Investment Gateway Bahrain and Reef Island. Paula also assisted the Bahrain Ministry of Works in the drafting and publication to market of its Standard Suite of Construction Contracts (2009 Edition).
Paula is the Bahrain Country Coordinator for the Society of Construction Law (Gulf) having previously sat on the SCL Council in the UK. She is also currently the Vice Chair of Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF).
