Terence is a solicitor in the Private Client service. He advises individuals in relation to all aspects of lifetime tax and estate planning (including Will preparation and charitable giving), executors in relation to all aspects of probate and estate administration (including cross-border estates), and trustees in relation to the establishment, operation and taxation of trusts.
He also works closely with the firm's Contentious Trusts and Estates team, to provide advice on taxation and other trust matters.
Terence is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
- Advising the trustees of a large landed estate on the reorganisation of trust assets for IHT planning purposes following the death of the head of the family, securing a significant IHT saving for the next generation
- Advising personal representatives on the administration of a complex intestate estate, with assets in the UK, Jersey, Switzerland and the Far East and negotiating with HM Revenue & Customs in relation to the non-domiciled intestate's tax affairs
- Advising a trust company on the terms of a defective deed that purported to appoint it as trustee of a family trust, and on the impact of that on the trust; subsequently advising on correcting the situation and drafting the documentation required
