Jessica advises a range of financial services clients based both in the UK and offshore on UK and EU regulatory issues, with a focus on the private wealth sector. She is increasingly involved in advising non-UK financial services providers on providing their services to the UK market with specific expertise in relation to Swiss firms.
Jessica also advises on the establishment of and the regulatory framework surrounding investment funds and the promotion of such funds. Her work includes advising on funds created specifically for the charities sector such as common investment funds.
In addition, Jessica provides regulatory assistance with regard to contentious matters including mis-selling of investments. Jessica also assists with issues relating to the structuring and promotion of investment products in the UK. Jessica is increasingly involved in advising family offices on legal issues surrounding investment opportunities and on establishing and running UK offices.
Jessica is admitted to practice in England and Wales.
- Advising a non-EEA financial services firm on how to do business in the UK without becoming FCA authorised including use of the overseas persons exclusion and exemptions to the financial promotions regime
- Advising on the establishment of the UK branch of a family office and any on-going regulatory issues arising as well as reviewing investment opportunities from a legal perspective
- Preparing client documentation for a UK based investment manager together with advising on issues relating to the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive
- Advising on the mis-selling of unregulated collective investment schemes to retail clients
