Charles Russell Speechlys hires first new partner following merger

8 January 2015

Charles Russell Speechlys builds Paris Employment practice with the hire of Kim Campion as a partner.

Kim Campion, who joins from Courtois Lebel and was previously with Eversheds and Paul Hastings, is a French-qualified Avocat specialising in the HR-related aspects of restructurings, outsourcing and subcontracting issues, as well as in the day-to-day management of all French employment law related issues.

He is the firm’s first partner hire since Charles Russell and Speechly Bircham merged on 1 November 2014. The firm opened the Paris office in November 2013 and Kim Campion’s arrival to lead the Paris Employment practice brings the number of Charles Russell Speechlys partners based in Paris to five and complements the international firm’s 15-partner strong Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice. Two associates and one paralegal from his Courtois Lebel team are also joining Charles Russell Speechlys.

Michael Powner, head of Charles Russell Speechlys Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice, said: “I am delighted that a partner of Kim’s standing joins us at this exciting time as we continue to grow and develop our international employment practice.”

Paris partner Frédéric Jeannin said: “I’m very pleased we have attracted a lawyer of Kim’s calibre to join our Paris growing team. This underlines the success we have had over the last year in building the profile of the firm in the French market. The welcome addition of Kim and his team enables us to offer a full range of employment law services to our French-based clients and beyond.”

Kim Campion said: “It’s exciting to be joining a firm with such strong international ambitions. The merger has created one of the most significant employment law teams in the UK and I’ve already had some very positive feedback from clients about the move.”
