Ofcom closes investigation into sale of media rights to Premier League matches

Ofcom has decided to close its Competition Act investigation into the sale of live UK audio-visual media rights to Premier League matches, on the basis that significant further work would be required to conclude the investigation – and it considers that its resources could be used more effectively on other priorities.  Click here.

CMA issues final report in retail banking market investigation

The CMA has issued its final report in relation to its retail banking market investigation, concluding that there are market features which give rise to adverse effects on competition.  Click here.

CMA issues provisional findings in relation to ICE/Trayport merger

The CMA has provisionally found that ICE’s acquisition of Trayport may give rise to competition concerns that ICE could use its ownership of Trayport’s platform to reduce competition between ICE and its rivals for wholesale European utilities trades.  Click here.


  • The European Commission has opened an in-depth phase 2 merger investigation into the proposed merger between Dow and DuPont.  Click here.


  • The CMA has announced that the merger of Diebold and Wincor will be referred for an in-depth phase 2 merger investigation unless the companies offer undertakings.  Both parties supply ATMs to banks and independent ATM deployers.  Click here.
  • The CMA has announced that the completed acquisition by VTech Holdings Limited of LeapFrog Enterprises Inc will be referred for an in-depth phase 2 merger investigation unless undertakings are offered.   Both parties supply toddler electronic learning toys and child laptops/tablets in the UK.  Click here.
