European Commission sends Statement of Objections to Google in relation to Android operating system and applications
The European Commission has informed Google of its preliminary view that the company has abused its dominant position by imposing restrictions on Android device manufacturers and mobile network operators. The Commission is concerned that Google has implemented a strategy on mobile devices to preserve and strengthen its dominance in general internet search, in particular by requiring that Google Search is pre-installed and set as the default, or exclusive, search service on most Android devices sold in Europe. CMA opens civil cartel investigation into supply of precast concrete drainage products
The Competition and Markets Authority is investigating suspected anti-competitive arrangements in the supply of precast concrete drainage products to the construction industry. The investigation concerns suspected infringements of the Chapter I prohibition in the Competition Act 1998 and/or of Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The CMA is also conducting a related criminal investigation into whether individuals have committed an offence under section 188 of the Enterprise Act 2002. Click here.
