Many couples are interested in exploring different processes for resolving arrangements for their children and their finances. At Charles Russell Speechlys we can offer you three types of alternative dispute resolution: mediation, collaborative law and arbitration.
Mediation is a voluntary process where you both work with an independent mediator to find a mutually acceptable solution. We have 8 mediators in our London office and 2 in our Guildford office.
If you would like to use the collaborative law process both of you will attend a series of meetings along with your lawyers and the 4 of you will work together to find a solution. Lawyers and clients sign an agreement saying they will not go to court so that everyone is committed to the process.
In family arbitration you can appoint an arbitrator who gives a final and binding decision. The timetable can be tailor-made to your requirements. This process can only be used for financial or property disputes.
