Our multi-disciplinary team has extensive experience acting for clients investing in and developing new healthcare facilities and advising lenders in relation to finance provided for such projects across both primary and acute healthcare sectors. The team has a market leading reputation in relation to the development of primary healthcare facilities particularly those developed under the Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) framework but also advises clients in relation to operational projects in the acute healthcare sector. The team is particularly noted for its work in healthcare PFI, PPP and 3PD as well as in LIFT.
Although the team predominately advises private sector investors and lenders, increasingly they provide advice to public sector clients including government owned companies and NHS Foundation Trusts.
The team has been nominated in the legal advisor of the year category at the HealthInvestor Awards for the last four years.
Acted for a large NHS Foundation Trust in relation to the redevelopment of part of one of its hospital sites, such advice covering complicated procurement, JV and development matters.
Acted for the developer and project company in relation to the development of a new multi-million pound award winning community hospital in North London, which at the time of financial close was the largest development to be procured through the LIFT framework.
Acted for a client on the development of a new £25 million primary healthcare centre in South London converting an old general hospital into a modern 21st century primary care facility. The centre has been developed as part of a combined development strategy to deliver primary care services and long term residential care for the elderly from the same site.
Advised two existing clients as part of a joint venture with the NHS in relation to the management of primary healthcare estate in the North West of England. This project was the first of its kind in England and is being used a pathfinder project for a more developed programme of estate management contracts. The project involved a joint venture between two private sector investors and two Department of Health owned primary healthcare estate holding companies.
Advise a long standing investment fund and its appointed operational management company on several of its PFI acute hospital facilities across London. We have advised on variations, refinancings and soft services market testing exercises.
