Life Sciences is a complex sector, not just in terms of the different areas of law involved but also in view of the challenging and ever changing commercial market place.
Our multi-disciplinary team combines relevant legal expertise, commercial insight and scientific understanding, to provide clients with a complete solutions-focused service. We always seek to maximise commercial returns as well as limiting potential liabilities. Our services range from simple material transfer agreements to complex and technical multinational patent litigation.
Our clients include businesses engaged in research, manufacturing, sales and distribution, as well as universities, contract research organisations, clinical trial providers, logistics providers, entrepreneurs and successful inventors.
We provide advice at every stage of a product’s life cycle, including:
Acted for Mölnlycke Health Care in a patent litigation case against BSN Medical regarding silicon wound care products. We acted as lead external counsel in this major multinational patent litigation. This case required a very high level of both technical and legal expertise because of the sophisticated technology.
Advised Liberum Capital, as nominated adviser and broker to NetScientific plc, on its admission to AIM and placing to raise £30 million. NetScientific is a biomedical and healthcare technology company that identifies, develops and commercialises research and technologies originating from leading universities, teaching hospitals and research institutes, particularly in the UK and the US.
Advised an FTSE 100 healthcare company on three related licences for the acquisition of world-wide rights and ongoing research in relation to a potential therapeutic product. This was against a complex backdrop of inter-related research agreements and competing projects.
Advised the Forensic Science Service on the protection, acquisition and commercialisation of leading edge technology and joint research over a period of 15 years. We also advised on the winding down of the portfolio.
Acted for Des Moines (Iowa, USA) headquartered Kemin Industries, which manufactures more than 500 specialty ingredients used by the feed and food industries and the health, nutrition and beauty markets, on its acquisition of the remaining 40% of Italian-based Eurhema srl from an Italian entrepreneur.
Advised a leading clinical trial provider for over 10 years on its entire pipeline of clinical trial agreements.
Advising an increasing number of clients in the sector on global data protection compliance, data breach and cyber security incidents, as well as creating policies and procedures. We also provide compliance training.
