Good Governance: Current Trends and Best Practices - 3 November 2016
Thursday, 3 November 2016, 17:00 - 19:30
Presented by Olivier Cavadini, Jon Walters & Paul Shapiro
In our latest seminar, we will be considering the fast-moving world of sports governance. With a particular emphasis on the lessons that can be learned from crisis hit organisations, we will share our experience working with sports federations and teams in setting up robust, yet flexible, governance structures.
We have recently added a team of Swiss law partners to complement our sports offering in Geneva and this session will include a perspective from one of them, Olivier Cavadini, on specific Swiss law aspects of corporate governance. Olivier will be joined by Jon Walters, Partner, and Paul Shapiro, Associate, from our sports group in London.
This will be a practical session in which we will cover:
What is good governance in sport and how does it relate to good corporate governance?
Its application to national and international federations, clubs, brands and other sport stakeholders
Relevant sources of good governance (from inside and outside sport)
The risks of poor governance and lessons learned from recent scandals
Case study including practical tips for attendees
Swiss law considerations.
